Practice Poster;
For this purpose, I am going to make a thriller poster using the same band as previously. Big Bang’s T.O.P and G-Dragon will be main characters. With this foundation, if we say the movie as a thriller with a tingle of romance then we can create a poster step by step. Firstly, I will present to you step by step how I will create this. It is a first attempt, so it may not be perfect but it will be a start.

The beginning size is 800 x 600, and it is a white page set to a RBG colour scheme. I will leaving the background white and layer in my first photograph, and cut out the rest to leave only the two people layered in. The photograph was cropped and extended by 43% to make it large enough to fit onto the main poster. This is put into poster and I can now begin to look at what else I need.

This I will do after a black background, and using photofiltre to put a smoky design on it, to give that element of mystery. Then the characters, and adding effects to make them look mysterious/threatening to establish the good, the bad the bystander.

THE BACKGROUND

This is the image of my antagonist. Without an editing, this is where he will be positioned to look threatening [though terribly handsome.]

This is the image after editing has been made to bloody him up and give him that dangerous look, to make him look threatening for the audience and to automatically tell you, if not scream at you that he is the villain. This was done by turning down the exposure and putting a bloody brush on him.

With T.O.P in place, I can now focus on the other images I want to put onto the poster. They are taken from Asianfanatics.net, browsing google, photobucket and flickr.com. I have put another layer and editing in the same way to an opacity of 30% this time

I came to a problem however with fitting my planned photograph onto the poster so I had to improvise and re-size the picture and re-crop it and try and fit it. Yes, I am aware that it did not go to plan but I worked with what I had and I know it looks cluttered at the moment but I am working with the flaws and accepting that I cannot do my original plan but working around the problem. This however, if what I came up with. The couple layer behind the main character, [T.O.P, right].

Next I had to come up with a title, and a tag line. In my favourite font, I selected Trajan Pro in size 48, and colour white to be ‘NOVEMBER BLESSING’. I chose this because it sounded cool and I can tie in the characters a name for one of them to be November and perhaps the murder and blood fest to be seen as a blessing. I defined the edges with opacity of 75. I then added the tag line to the picture and added the date and details at the bottom of the normal posters. As my poster included Korean men and women I was unable to put down many people that I know as cast, but I have those I thought of put down including my teacher because he’s cool. I googled LIONSGATE and TWISTED PICTURES to get their logo to put it onto my poster and I have this as a result.

Now I added a final review to my poster. I added two, one from THE GUARDIAN to show that it is a serious movie, whereas the Sun would not bring the correct audience. I have a blood stain over the five stars to reinforce that it is a bloody, gruesome movie. I added the logos because these companies produced HOTEL, SAW and REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA which are three of my most enjoyed movies.

Overall, this poster took four - five hours to make without break and constant work and editing. I am pleased with the outcome and it’s not bad for a first attempt and a mock poster. I hope others share the same view as I do. I am aware of an error on her shoulder and tried to fix it, however I couldn’t myself and asked my sister’s boyfriend to try and fix it for me after he noticed the mistake also. He told me how to fix it this way.
‘just using the curve tool on ms paint and adding in a few colours now if you use the smudge tool in photoshop to blend in the colours on the shoulder it should look pretty natural’ Thank you very much Nick. <3
