In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
The three media pieces we made were constructing a Teaser trailer, an additional advertisement poster and a Music Magazine cover to also advertise. The narrative that we chose to construct was one that kept relatively loyal to the conventions that were already set in place. The...
What have you learned from your audience feedback?
The audience feedback was varied. The positive focused on the use of the long take and the line of dialogue ‘Get the fuck on the floor!’ as a source of amusement almost. Besides the line of dialogue, the trailer was fairly easy to follow and understand a basic story line. With the difficulty to agree on a storyline firstly, and then get a basic...
How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
The three media texts I feel worked well together because they all follow the similar image. The trailer finishes with a shot of Tom shooting into the lens. This image was adapted into the poster and magazine cover to have the same image. They follow the same style through the textured background and edit style of the...
How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
For me personally, I found that my use of Photoshop helped me to learn how to compose a poster. I had practised previously to learn how to construct on a layer by layer, on piece by piece to come up with a masterpiece of some form. When researching posters I took the basic idea of have main...

Vault Poster;
When working with the original image [below] I began to think about how to work the poster to represent the movie. The initial shot of Tom holding the gun at the camera is taken from the trailer and I personally really liked.

The Poster
The funding for this independent movie would need to come from more than one source, so I looked online for websites of companies to give their aid to our movie and help us distribute it.
I found this: http://www.independentcinemaoffice.org.uk/
This is a website which supports independent movies, but also I used the logo of the BFI as they are offer useful information and support to British...

Attempt at editing
On Friday due to Ashvina’s absence Amy and I played around on Adobe to learn the basic functions and refreshing our memories when editing. Following the lesson I made some screencaptions for the director, Ashvina Shegobin and Hashypie Productions in my favourite font. Trajan Pro looks sophisticated and quite simple with the intention to keep attention on the footage. I saved this under...
Uploading the footage
Following the complication with the computer breaking down, we have moved to another monitor and uploaded Amy’s footage although the footage that Ash and I had filmed. This causes a complication because we had some very good and useful footage of tracking shots and general shots to establish a location but to also show it in a different perspective. The usual shots of London show the glamour of...
Practice Poster;
For this purpose, I am going to make a thriller poster using the same band as previously. Big Bang’s T.O.P and G-Dragon will be main characters. With this foundation, if we say the movie as a thriller with a tingle of romance then we can create a poster step by step. Firstly, I will present to you step by step how I will create this. It is a first attempt, so it may not be perfect but it...
A little off topic.
But I’ve been thinking a lot recently.
As Amy is seemingly more advanced and talented with the camera and filming, I began to think upon my personal strengths to figure out where and how I can input my views into the production, and creation of the project.
After many late nights [5am mostly] working on photoshop to learn how to:
install/use an action
install/use a brush
create a...

Amy's footage [13th]
Amy’s footage [13th]
Amy had the camera over the weekend, and we have about 10 minutes worth of footage. With this footage we have:
o Trains
o Running down an alley way
o A bag [containing the bomb]
o Actor [in all black/unknown]
o Person contact
o Established a character [Amy’s brother]
o Stalking
o ...
Amy has the camera;
Although signed out in my name, Amy has the weekend to film and bring back footage.
I hope we have good stuff.
Amy's plan.
Amy had most of these ideas, which lead us into piecing it together.
Somebody running down an alley thing, (away from the bomb?)
We need a countdown. [Ash]
Somebody trying to cut the right wire.
Characters. [Working on how to incorporate that]
2012 Olympic stadium idea [Jello] <— Stratford, can film it from there.
Find tv extracts about the Olympics [up to date, and relevant.]
An attempt at a storyboard [written]
Black screen, [city: London. Boroughs: 32. Population: approx. 7,700,000]
Bomb being made [4 seconds]
Stalking people/London shots [Big Ben; London Bridge Black screen
[statistic. Fastest average of a train: 126MPH]
Spinning shot [Sped up. 1]
Bomb making [4 seconds]
London people? [woman/peanut seller]
Black screen [There are millions of people in this city …]
Spinning shot [Sped up. 2]

London footage; oh dear
The files we need to convert into AVI, but after Ashvina converted them from her camera, they only played in audio. We need to transfer the footage in one way or another as the footage we had was rather good. We had several shots which are relevant to the trailer.
The workers for the new scary London Experience.
A peanut seller.
Random passers by
footage on the trains
This footage gives us...
8th December;
Following the attempt to film on the 7th, Ashvina and I stayed after school with Zak and Othmane acting for us. This filming was not very successful.
On the 7th, needless to say, the lack of focus was not very good but Amy produced good footage, and better footage than Ashvina and I had produced.
This was slow partly because of the set up. We had gone to D.T to use their equipment to show the...
Where are Trailers shown?
Trailers are shown in the Cinema before the main feature, which depends on the rating of the Feature. These normally consist of full length trailers [1:30 - 2:30 normally].
These can also be shown on TV also, but these would not be in such good definition not the same effect. Still, it delivers the message on a smaller screen.
Radio stations can also advertise movies through voice, and reviews....
The Hidden
After watching the movie ‘The Hidden’ we watched the trailer to see how it went from Trailer, and teasing us to the full package.
In the Trailer, we can strong elements of ‘The Terminator’ and Cop movies when watching it. The use of voice-overs, hints, sci-fi tone, and the use of quotes from the movie.
Obviously the year it was made it means the way it is structed is...
Continuity Editing;
On the 2nd of November we studied continuity editing and what shots represents (i.e passing of time) with a few key examples of this.
Dissolve; A long period of time has passed between the previous shot to the next.
Cut; Immediate passing of time.
Black out; Very long passing of time.
Students' Work;
In Class we watched several trailers made by past students, and from watching this we took some essential points from these trailers:-
Fatality; Quick, fast paced. But there are too many medium shots, and set in a garden. Bad choice of location firstly, but besides this, the pace was good.
Destroy The Map; Quick images, and these gave us a clear indication of the movie and what was to be...

Dun Dun Dunnnnn
Filming.
Well, what to say?
It was cold, freezing, raining and horrible.
We got all the footage that we needed.
A oneliner.
The chase/stalking.
A phone.
A car (is passing)
A variety of shots.
Filmed on the underground.
We met some nice people who worked for this scary attraction place who let us film them. We have enough to put together for a teaser and a man trailer.

What makes this a teaser trailer?
you see a very, painful teaser of the whole movie.
you see them playing with dead bodies as a game
you see them filming it, for their own amusement.
you see the sadistic characters
you have an idea of what a sadistic, masochistic movie it is.
It’s short, sweet, and a perfect tease
Before we start ...
What is a thriller, and what a teaser trailer?
Firstly, I think that a thriller is similar to a horror, but it leaves you hanging, and waiting in suspense, whereas a horror generally gives you gore, gore, gore. As lovely as that is, and a thriller can have the same content but has the overall suspension theme also. For example, a thriller as a ‘Basic Instinct’ with a horror like...
